Superfood Energy Bars

These superfood energy bars will keep you going for hours! Packed with oats, seeds and dried fruit and bound together with our Filippo Berio Mild & Light Olive Oil, these are both tasty and nutritious.

  • 10 Pitted Dates
  • 1 Orange
  • 125g Jumbo Oats
  • 50 Goji Berries
  • 50g Dried Cranberries
  • 40g Pumpkin Seeds
  • 2 Tbsp Flax seeds
  • 2 Tbsp Cacao Nibs (or Dark chocolate chips)
  • 5 Tbsp Filippo Berio Mild & Light Olive Oil


  1. Preheat oven to 170°C/338°F.
  2. Place your pitted dates into a pan on a high heat. Add the zest and juice of 1 orange, and a small cup of water to loosen everything.
  3. Cook the dates until they are very soft, and then mash them up with a fork. Remove from the heat and put the orange-date mixture in a big bowl.
  4. Add your oats, goji berries, dried cranberries, pumpkin seeds, flax seeds, cacao nibs and 4 tablespoons of Filippo Berio Mild & Light Olive Oil. Mix everything together.
  5. Take a baking tray and grease the edges with Filippo Berio Mild & Light Olive Oil. Spoon your mixture into the tray, and smooth it out. Grate the zest of half and orange over the top, and place in the oven for 35 minutes, or until the top is golden.
  6. When ready, remove from oven and allow to cool completely.
  7. You can substitute your dried cranberries with other dried fruits like apricots!
  8. Once cooled, slice it up into bars and store in an airtight container and keep in the cupboard. Best eaten with 10 days.
