We’re delighted to announce that the winner of the ‘Rotary Young Chef 2015’ is 15 year old, Lewis Wilson, from Horsham. Eight national finalists aged between 12 and 17 competed for the coveted title at the Coleg Cambria in Deeside.
Having already beaten 6,500 young competitors from Rotary Clubs across Britain and Ireland, the eight finalists prepared and presented a three-course meal for highly qualified judges, including Tom Hamblet who won last year’s competition.
Lewis treated the judges to a starter of Seared Mackerel served with pickled and charred fennel and a blackberry dressing and a main course of Roasted breast of Gressingham duck served with wild mushrooms, asparagus and quinoa all followed by a dessert of Apple tart served with peached rhubarb and elderflower cream.
Second place went to 16 year old Samantha Rides, from the Rotary Club of Portishead and in third place was 13 year old Heather Nisbet, from the Rotary Club of Stovehaven District.
