14 year old Jordon Powell wins Rotary Young Chef

Eight budding chefs competed in the RIBI Young Chef national final last Saturday, having already beaten thousands of others from schools and colleges all over Great Britain and Ireland to reach the final.  The young cooking enthusiasts, aged between 11 and 17 years old, came together to compete for the Young Chef title.

The competition was extremely close, but in the end Jordon Powell, 14 from Horsham West Sussex, was announced as the winner.

Jordon treated judges to a starter of mackerel with blood orange textures and celery. His main course was rump of hogget with dauphinoise pomme puree, roasted celery and carrot, wilted garlic spinach, roasted pine nut and lamb sauce.  Finishing it all off with apple pannacotta, cinnamon pancake and apple puree for dessert.

Katie Toms, 15 from Crediton, Devon came 2nd and Christopher Wright from Akeley Wood, Buckingham came 3rd. Congratulations to everyone who took part!
