Help Us Find ‘Rotary Young Chef 2011'

Help Us Find ‘Rotary Young Chef 2011'Filippo Berio has teamed up with Rotary to scour all secondary schools in Great Britain and Ireland in search of the Rotary Young Chef 2011. The competition, which officially starts in September, looks to promote healthy eating amongst young people by encouraging students to show off their creative culinary talents by preparing a healthy three-course meal for two.

What’s more the winner of the 2011 competition will receive a cheque for £250, win an amazing trip for two to Tuscany to visit Filippo Berio’s olive grove “La Traversagna” and sample the delights of Italian cuisine plus a day with Michelin-starred Chef Phil Thompson at Augberge du Lac set in the magnificent parkland of Brocket Hall in Hertfordshire.

Now in its tenth year, Rotary Young Chef in association with Filippo Berio, gives students the opportunity to learn valuable life skills through its prestigious annual culinary challenge. Students are tasked with creating, organising and preparing a well-balanced three-course meal, which has to not only taste and look great, but also has to follow the principles of a healthy diet.

How the Competition Works
The competition starts with a local Rotary Club organising a competition at a local venue, the winners then go onto a district competition and progress to a regional final and ultimately to the final for Great Britain and Ireland!

How to Enter

Rotary Young Chef is open to all young people of secondary school age in the UK and Ireland

Simply email your contact details to youthopps@ribi.org

Or phone The Secretariat at Rotary on +44 (0)1789 765411

Contact your local Rotary Club direct and ask them about Young Chef. (To find your nearest club, look on the Rotary website www.rotary-ribi.org then search for your local club on the yellow panel on the top right).

The 2010 final will be held at Stratford-Upon-Avon Catering College in Warwickshire on 30th April 2011.
