Olympic victors

In ancient Greece, winners of the Olympic Games were honoured with wreaths made of olive tree branches, and in ancient battles, olive branches were used to crown the victors.

Greek soldiers are said to have rubbed olive oil into their bodies to keep them warm at night as well as using it in their lamps for lighting.
